Here comes the day when earth turns
into the greatest modern world, when science is misused by humans. A world they
say that was plastic and fake, they have taken all the living things. A world without
nature. No more living trees, they manufactured all of them. Each one is made
in factory which can’t produce oxygen. They used machines to create the fake
fresh air and water to survive, and they stepped on synthetic grass and sand,
they also planted in their garden the fake roses and lilies without bees that
blossom for forever. As for pets, they no longer kept living dogs or cats, but
robots that use batteries and have no need to be fed. They liked live that way.
They build the high-rise buildings as
high as the sky. Many factories stand all over the world, no wonder then, that the
whole sea is contaminated by chemicals and trash. as for transportation, they didn’t
need road anymore to run their cars, because today all cars are flying among
buildings, and were used for going to church or the office. Sometimes they used
a jet pack to take a little walk.
The last book has been burned many
years ago, they don’t need books anymore. Only one single click on their small
tablet to access all the knowledge they need. They said it’s like in paradise,
they loved living that way. They thank God for all of this, the highest accomplishment
of mankind. They worship God and also worship technology. Anyway, it was only
yesterday when people found more evidence that life has been existing on Mars
and Pluto.
“Hi, Dad! Have you read the news
today?” said Zeta to his father.
“Hmm.. not yet. What is new?”
“It’s a summary of NAZA Expedition to Mars and Pluto. They found many artifacts there. What surprised me the most
is the artifacts shown that there was modern life has ever existing on both
planets! Their technology was similar to our latest technology!”
“And then? I didn’t get it, son.”
“I was just thinking that Prof. Gudmundur
was right. He said all of these accomplishment, i mean our technology now,
doesn’t mean good progress of mankind, but the opposite! It’s our regression! We
all have failed to live a life! Prof. Gudmundur also said our planet will be in
the same boat with Mars and Pluto. We need to escape, Dad!”
“Are you still talking to that man?!
I told you many times, don’t you dare to have any relation with that
old-insane-man!”

Professor Gudmundur is an 86 year old man. He was rejected from society because of his thoughts. He was the only one who still believed that the best way to live a life was to live alongside nature. No one listen to him, but Zeta the only young man who believe in prof. Gudmundur’s stories. He predicts that this world will be destroyed by unknown forces. That was why they are trying to build a space ship to escape when the day comes (they have build this ship for last three years).
“Prof, i have failed to persuade my Dad
to join us.”
“It’s ok for now, you can ask him
later. Let’s focus on our ship that’s
almost finished, and you know what? I found another planet that supports life,
it’s near enough to our planet, just 4.5 light years away.” said
professor.
“I know it, It’s Centaurus constellation!
It means Proxima Centauri will be our new sun! But, Prof... I don’t think we
can make it. I can’t imagine how to really start a new life”
“Don’t be discouraged, Zeta. Don’t
you remember how did life start on earth only from one ‘super-tiny’ single
cell?”
“I do...”
“Then, just relax. I’ve got
everything we need, boy.”
“Prof, there’s something i want to
ask.”
“What is it, boy?”
“Are you sure that the earth will be
ruined one day? What will ‘the unknown-force’ do with the earth?
“Hmm... Take the worst thing you can imagine, and imagine
something a million times worse than that.”
“They will do that?!”
“No, they will do something even
worse! Now forget about that, we must focus on our ship.”
